Rare $1200 Robert Compton Hanging Aquarium Fish Tank Pottery 1984 Vintage Round

1984 Mid Century Modern Robert Compton Pottery Stoneware Hanging Aquarium 5 Gallon Lighted Fish Tank. This is very tempting for me to keep. What a unique and fabulous item. You will see in photos that there are blue fish rocks at bottom.

I have since cleaned it out. The last photo shows the clean bottom and you can see the bottom pottery patina.

Second Nature Whisper 100 small air machine (plugged in and seems to be working), aquarium tube filter connection piece, Top Piece with working Light Bulb. I filled the tank with water and there are NO Leaks. The tank itself and glass are in excellent. There is damage to the lid. This does not affect the functioning as light bulb works perfect.

The lid has obvious glue repair which you can see in photos. You may want to paint over this or remove old glue and do a nicer repair job. Looks like all the pieces fit together nicely.

The Robert Compton gallery website does sell some replacement parts to their fountains so they might sell a replacement part to the lid if you - I have not called to ask, but may be an option. This does not look like it has been used much. There are a few fish tank pebbles that are wedged at bottom between the clear silicone adhesive and 1/4 glass. These can be picked out. I picked out most with a plastic needle.

Easy - just takes time. Almost all are out so you most likely won't. Need to pick the rest if you plan to use some type of gravel stones at bottom which will cover it up.

The glass is in excellent condition. I would LOVE to have a person pick this up as it is so heavy and awesome. I will be nervous until it arrives to your home safely. I will probably spend a couple hours packaging this so that I will feel confident that it has enough protection to make it to you safely.

Robert's Stoneware Aquariums have a textured natural clay exterior and a smooth glazed "creamy white" interior. The viewing ports are quarter-inch plate glass and and are sealed with silicone adhesive.

An under gravel filter keeps the water crystal clear and a moisture resistant bake lite lamp, concealed in the lid, illuminates the bubbling water with soft filtered light.
